Goal and Impact
Perfect Thirds Consulting was for a phased SEO and AEO campaign. The goal was to transform Holder Parlette’s digital presence into an authoritative lead generation tool. We focused on capturing high-value clientele searching for specialized architectural services in Northern California, while securing market-leading visibility in generative AI platforms.
Revenue grew by over 200% in 14 months.
Challenges
Search & Keyword Misalignment
They were only ranking poorly for generic keywords such as “architectural firm” or “bay area architect.” This generated low-value traffic from students and casual researchers.
Portfolio Content Limitations
Holder Parlette’s project portfolio was visually stunning but text-light and without focus keywords. The most important part of their website had limited searchability.
Bandwidth and Headroom
Holder Parlette is a very busy firm and the limited availability of stakeholders for review and QA required that Perfect Thirds operate with as much autonomy as possible.
Solution
A Doable Timeline
Instead of overwhelming the firm with the cost and drain on their internal resources of a short timeline, we took an incremental approach.
Shift Portfolios to Regional Hubs
We transitioned the website structure from a static digital portfolio into a tiered Local Entity structure. By creating dedicated regional hubs–Marin County, Napa Valley, Sonoma County, each with its town-specific portfolio pages, we demonstrated clear geographic authority to both traditional and AI search.
Copywriting for SEO & AEO
Modifying existing pages and creating new ones would be vital to the success of this project. We concentrated on creating copy that would focus on new keywords, and Holder Parlette’s exceptional work and expertise.
Long-Tail & Intent-Driven Keyword Strategy
Instead of competing for broad search terms like “architectural firm” or “contemporary architecture” we focused on low-volume, high-intent keywords. In Holder Parlette’s market, ranking for a handful of highly specific searches is far more valuable than competing for thousands of low-intent* visitors.
We targeted hyper-focused (long-tail) keywords that reflect real client concerns and problems. By including keywords for regulatory and local zoning realities, the portfolio pages develop a higher degree of local authority. For example:
- “Modern Napa Valley farmhouse architects”: Captures prospective estate owners looking for a specific aesthetic and regional design expertise in the Wine Country.
- “Sustainable Architecture for Marin County”: This reaches homeowners concerned with environmental protection, personal well-being, and financial savings as it relates to Marin County residents.
* Low-intent website visitors are usually students and people that are not looking for an Architect to hire—low commercial intent.
AEO (Answer Engine Optimization)
Generative Engine Optimization
To ensure AI tools like ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity recommend Holder Parlette as a top authority, we shaped the site’s content to give clear, direct answers to the exact questions prospective clients ask. We laid out their expertise in a straightforward format that AI engines can easily read, understand, and cite.
AI Snippet & Direct Answer Integration
We incorporated structured answer blocks specifically tailored to trigger AI citations and Google Overviews, answering complex home design queries directly:
- “How do I build a fire-resistant home in California?” — Detailed breakdown of Chapter 7A compliance, Class A roofing, ASTM E2886 ember-resistant vents, multi-pane tempered glazing, and 5-foot Zone 0 non-combustible perimeters.
- “What are WUI requirements for Marin and Napa?” — Clear definitions of Title 24 Part 7 mandates, ignition-resistant building envelopes, and defensible space integration.
Writing for SEO & AEO
The “Location + Problem + Local Solution” Narrative Formula
We restructured portfolio text from aesthetic descriptions into technical problem-solving case studies. Each project highlights local regulatory constraints and architectural solutions.
- Mill Valley Residence
- Design Challenge: Base of Mount Tamalpais; steep hillside slope and dense timber fire risk.
- Solution: Class 1 fire-rated backer boards behind wood siding, cement board paneling, and composite fireproof roofing.
- Sonoma Ridge House
- Design Challenge: Ridgetop exposure with severe wind-driven ember vulnerability.
- Solution: Agrarian concrete and metal central spine wrapping the home in non-combustible materials.

Over the 14-month engagement, Holder Parlette’s business grew by over 200%. While this makes us incredibly happy, it’s important to anchor that number in reality: an architectural firm doesn’t increase revenue by this much through website optimization alone.
Holder Parlette’s reputation, word-of-mouth referrals, and deep relationships with local contractors and past clients also drove momentum. What our SEO and AEO work accomplished was opening a clear, highly targeted entry into Holder Parlette. By capturing homeowners at or near the moment they were searching for “Their Architect,” we ensured the firm’s digital presence was an extension of the quality of their work.
